Does Frontier Offer Self-Install?
Like the other fiber ISPs in this series, a first-time Frontier Fiber connection generally requires professional installation to run fiber and mount an ONT. Self-install applies only when the ONT is already present from a previous resident's service.
What Professional Installation Involves
- Technician runs fiber to your home and mounts the ONT.
- Router is connected to the ONT and activated on-site.
- Live speed test confirms the connection before the technician leaves.
If Self-Install Is Available
With an existing ONT, self-install takes roughly 15-20 minutes using the setup guide included in your welcome kit: connect the router, power on, and activate through the Frontier app or web portal with your account code.
What to Expect on Install Day
Frontier typically provides a 4-hour appointment window, sometimes narrower in areas with active fiber expansion. Confirm someone will be home for the full window, and have a preferred router placement location ready to speed up the visit.
