We were tired of boring speed tests that look like they were built in 2005. You know the ones. They have ads for insurance companies and look like a spreadsheet.
DCSPEEDTEST is designed for the generation that grew up on high-speed wifi and has zero patience for lag. We don't just tell you numbers; we tell you if you can actually survive on the internet.

Our Research Methodology
DCSpeedTest's guides combine three types of data: results from our own free speed test tool, publicly available sources (FCC Measuring Broadband America, provider-published rate cards and terms of service, ACSI and J.D. Power industry surveys), and modeled estimates built from those public sources when we don't have a large enough independent sample of our own.
Specific figures like test counts, day-count durations, or household counts in our articles describe the scenario and scale of analysis behind a piece, not always a formally published, statistically-controlled study — we're an independent publication, not a certified testing lab. Every factual claim about pricing, policy, or third-party data is backed by a source link in the article. If you spot a number that looks outdated, let us know and we'll fix it.
